The Howard County Police Department announced on Monday that a 17-year-old has been charged for bringing a loaded handgun to Oakland Mills High School after a parent alerted the administration about a private message that was made to her son overnight.
According to officials, when the teen suspect arrived at the school building, he was immediately taken to the school office, he was searched, and a loaded weapon was recovered from his bag.
He was then taken into custody without further incident by the School Resource Officer.
No one else was threatened, and there were no injuries reported.
